From Technical Difficulties to TRUE Trust

A Commercial Video Production Case Study on Earning Creative Clout: How a client and their marketing agency  trusted TRUE Studios to produce 3 high-impact video ads.

a TRUE Story

The email landed in my inbox.

Client email requesting professional commercial video production files.

Working files. Hmmm. OK. It’s an unusual ask but I get it. They had a job to do and I believe in being accommodating. So I pulled the video project files — a case study and a promo video about Smash My Trash delivers a genius solution via mobile waste compaction, saving customers cash, boosting safety, and benefiting the environment. Solid work! Solid work. Big files, though. Heavy. For days, the upload never seemed to move. It was like pouring molasses through a coffee straw — slow and not particularly efficient. That’s when it occurred to me…

What if I just made the ads?

I don’t want to step on toes but it seemed like sending files may not be the best way to help. So I suggested producing the commercials.

This video message was my response.

They didn’t blink. In fact, their reply was fast, clear and direct:

The representative from the marketing agency responded:

Client email confirming the proposed video ad concept is ideal.

Ideal.

That word said everything. Not just permission – trust!  I dove in to the edit. I began trimming the promo video into a lean, 30-second ad— sharp, clear, and to the point. No music, b-roll, or motion graphics – just dialogue. The approach isn’t flashy but at this early stage, the focus is on content.

I sent the rough cut over and, to be honest – I felt a flicker of nerves. I was trusting my gut.

The marketing agency responded first:

Marketing agency email praising the rough cut of the new commercial video ads.

That was the green light. No more troubleshooting –  just collaborating. The hassle of large file transfers were behind us. It was time to start the real work. Building video ads that would hit the mark with the audience.

Over the next couple of weeks, we carved out key soundbites from the original case study video and produced two additional ads – one focused on cost savings, the other on safety. All three ads were also adapted into vertical format for Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube — fast, clean, and fully on brand. Everything came together exactly how it should. We had a series of videos that we could all get behind.

The best part? It wasn’t just the videos that worked — it was the people and the process. The truth is this could’ve been a tech headache. Instead, the client, and their marketing agency, trusted me to do what was best. They pivoted. Made the smart call. And because of that, we didn’t just solve a problem — we created a true partnership!
